The Citation Generator cannot find the source I want to cite. What can I do?

Although our Citation Generator is linked to an extensive database containing thousands of sources, there may be instances where the specific source you wish to cite is not available. Should you encounter this situation, you can easily add the information manually.

Here's how you can manually add the information:

  1. Click on "Cite manually" located below the search bar.

  2. Select the type of source you intend to cite.

  3. Provide all the required information, and if possible, include any recommended details as well.

  4. Click “Cite source” and you’re good to go!

By following these steps, you can ensure that your sources are accurately cited, even if they are not readily available in our database.

You can also edit or add information to the source afterward by hovering over it and then clicking "edit".

💡 Pro Tip: We highly recommend using the Citation Generator while logged into your account. Citations generated while logged in will remain accessible indefinitely. References generated without being logged in will expire after 30 days.
